SUMMARY:Transferable Skills: Applied AI for Humanities and Social Science R
 esearch
DESCRIPTION:In the autumn semester of 2026\, RISE is offering doctoral cand
idates in the humanities and social sciences a Transferable Skills [https:
 //www.unibas.ch/en/University/Administration-Services/Vice-President-s-Off
 ice-for-Education/Academic-Programs/Graduate-Center/Transferable-Skills.ht
ml] course on the use of artificial intelligence in research\, delivered v
 ia GRACE [https://www.unibas.ch/en/University/Administration-Services/Vice
 -President-s-Office-for-Education/Academic-Programs/Graduate-Center.html].
\\r\\nThe course focuses on AI-driven methods rather than individual appli
cations or platforms. Upon completion\, participants will understand how g
enerative LLMs are developed\, pre-trained\, and fine-tuned for specific r
equirements\, and how their architecture affects their behaviour. They wil
l be able to use AI models to develop research tools\, will have a practic
ally oriented overview of the core capabilities of the leading AI platform
s\, and will be familiar with fundamental approaches to critically assessi
ng and evaluating AI-generated outputs. The aim of the course is to equip
participants with transferable methodological competences that remain rele
vant in the long term\, even as models and applications continue to evolve
rapidly.\\r\\nThe course is spread across two half-days and takes place o
 n 9. and 12. November 2026\, each from 09:00 to 13:30. Course language is
English. Further details about the course and registration [https://fortbi
