Job advertisement: Student assistant (6 h/week)
RISE supports researchers in the humanities and social sciences at the University of Basel in questions concerning the conception of computer-aided research, the production, analysis and user-oriented presentation of digital data, as well as their sustainable and open availability. RISE is the first point of contact for the conception of projects working with digital methods and data. We provide support in the creation of data management plans, and we pilot, plan and accompany processes for data development and software development or establish contact with suitable partners for such tasks.
We are looking for a student assistant with system administration skills as of now or by appointment for 6 hours per week, limited until 31.12.2023
The employment conditions follow the guidelines of the University.
Your tasks
- Configure, deploy, maintain and document test installations for Humanities and Social Sciences research applications on virtual machines provided by Basel University ITS, e.g.:
- Omeka-S
- TEI-Publisher
- Edition Visualization Technology
- Arches
- Annif
- Contribute to various project related tasks, involving digitization, coding and testing
Your profile
- Student of Computer Science and/or experience in Linux system administration
- Good knowledge of German (written and oral) is required
- Strong service orientation and ability to work in a team
- Candidates available for the full duration of the contract are preferred
- Experience with Python and GitHub is a plus
