José Luis Losada Palenzuela

José Luis Losada Palenzuela joined the RISE team in January 2023. He holds a PhD in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and has published a monograph on Arthur Schopenhauer’s translation of the Spanish Baroque moralist and writer Baltasar Gracián. A related output of this research is a digital edition of Schopenhauer’s marginalia in Spanish books.

He brings an academic background, including experience as an Associate Professor at the University of Wrocław (Poland) and as a member of its Digital Humanities Lab. He has also taught doctoral courses at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (Spain). His research career includes stays at the Centre for Digital Humanities at the University of Trier (Germany) and the University of Geneva (Switzerland). His publications focus on Spanish 17th-century literature, comparative literature, digital literary studies, and scholarly editions.

He also works at DaSCH, the Swiss National Data and Service Center for the Humanities, as a Senior Research Data Specialist, where he supports researchers in the modelling, preservation, and publication of humanities research data. He also serves as a contact point and information hub between RISE and DaSCH.

His areas of expertise include digital scholarly editions, data modelling, network analysis, research data archiving, Linked Open Data, and data-driven workflows with large language models.
