Job advertisement: Student assistant (6 h/week)

RISE supports researchers in the humanities and social sciences at the University of Basel in questions concerning the conception of computer-aided research, the production, analysis and user-oriented presentation of digital data, as well as their sustainable and open availability. RISE is the first point of contact for the conception of projects working with digital methods and data. We provide support in the creation of data management plans, and we pilot, plan and accompany processes for data development and software development or establish contact with suitable partners for such tasks.

We are looking for a student assistant as of 01 February 2022 or by appointment

Student Assistant for 6 hours per week, limited until 31.12.2022
The employment conditions follow the guidelines of the University.

Your tasks

  • Supporting the RISE team in the indexing and preparation of digital research data (e.g. data cleaning, transcription, annotation).
  • Supporting the RISE team in organisational tasks (e.g. organising and conducting training courses)
  • Supporting the RISE team in testing and adapting digital methods (e.g. testing software)

Your profile

  • Student of Digital Humanities, of a humanities or social science subject related to digital methods or of computer science related to humanities or social science issues
  • Sound IT skills and proficient use of standard office software
  • Familiarity with digital tools for the humanities and social sciences (e.g. Transkribus, EXMARaLDA) desirable
  • Very good knowledge of German (written and oral) is required
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work in a team
